As one of the founding partners, Jim Butler leads Russell Thompson Butler & Houston with a gentle hand, kind spirit and soft spoken demeanor. With over 40 years of accounting experience, Jim has become a trusted advisor and business partner to his clients. Most would say that Jim is much more than a CPA; he is a true business asset.

Jim’s specialties include physician and medical practices, finance and brokerage, mergers and acquisitions, litigation support, business valuation services and management consulting.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts and the Society of Certified Public Accountants for Alabama, Mississippi and Illinois. Jim received his degree accounting from the University of South Alabama and serves as the board treasurer of the Needle Rush Condominium Association in Perdido Key, Florida.

Jim is an active and long standing member of Springhill Baptist Church where he has served as finance chairman, deacon and Sunday school teacher. He has been involved with various civic and charitable organizations throughout his career.

He and his wife, Lynne, are the proud parents of two adult children, Matt and Katie. Beyond family, Jim’s favorite pastimes include travel, boating and hunting as well as a friendly round of golf as often as possible.
